Why did you choose Holly Douglas Boudoir for your session?
The first thing I ever noticed when looking at Holly Douglas Boudoir was the studio location. I love the pictures with Nashville in the background. Also loved the aesthetic that her studio provides. So when it came down to picking a photographer to commit to and work with, this was what stood out to me.
What made you decide to take the leap of faith and do a boudoir session?
I have always dealt with confidence and self esteem issues. But after lockdown and COVID outbreaks and a big weight loss and being happy with myself, I signed up for this to keep me motivated in working on myself, not just physically but mentally
Were you nervous about the shoot beforehand? If so, what were you most nervous about?
Just that I would spend the money and absolutely hate the pictures, or that I would not be good at being photographed, especially in such an intimate way.
Did you become more comfortable after the session started? If so, what helped to relax your nerves?
Definitely. Honestly a lot of my nerves went away just while sitting in the chair having my hair and makeup done. Holly and Leslie really made me feel comfortable and at home. They definitely hyped me up the whole way, letting me know when I was doing something right and giving good advice when I needed instruction.
What was your favorite part of the experience and why?
The way I felt when Holly showed me my pictures and her reaction to when I did a pose correctly or she got the shot she was going for. It was just a change of pace to feel that confident and having someone to make you not only look, but FEEL like THAT BITCH!
How did you feel during your session?
I had a lot of fun! It was fast paced and like an activity, and as someone who works out and does yoga regularly, I always love the feeling that I am putting in the work, which is exactly what a boudoir shoot is - a workout!
Describe how you felt when you saw your images for the first time.
Going back to why this was my favorite part of the experience, it was the feeling of seeing myself in such a beautiful and confident manner, a way I have never seen myself before. It was worth every penny, and those feelings will continue. I haven’t gotten my pictures back yet, but the visceral memory of seeing them on Holly’s computer is keeping the high. So, I can’t imagine how it’s going to be when I have them in my possession.
How has your relationship with your body changed since your session?
I look at myself differently in the mirror. I find myself pointing out the positive of what looks good versus what needs to change. But honestly, I think the best thing that has come out of this experience is my mindset. My body will fall in line with my mindset.
What would you say to people who say they can't do a boudoir session because they are too shy, nervous, etc?
You’d be surprised at what you can do if you just follow instruction and try your best! I closed my eyes a lot during my session just so I wasn’t so focused on the fact that I was nervous. I was just present in the moment and listened to Holly and Leslie and it all fell into place.
Anything else you'd like to add?
I highly recommend boudoir to everyone, especially Holly and her team. The whole experience was amazing! Even with me getting COVID the week my shoot was supposed to be and then dealing with being patient to reschedule and getting to the date, it was worth it all to see what I saw on that camera. Holly captures your best self, and you deserve to see it! :)
