The Beauty of Male Boudoir Photography
Holly Douglas & Co. is one of the only boudoir studios in the Nashville area that offers boudoir sessions for men! In this blog, we discuss the beauty of male boudoir photography and why our husbands, boyfriends, and guy-friends deserve to have this experience, too!
The Beauty of Male Boudoir Photography
Male boudoir photography is flipping the script on self-love and body positivity. Thatβs right, boudoir photography isnβt necessarily a ladies-only club (depending on the boudoir studio). It can be expanded to include men, as well, giving them their moment in the spotlight, showcasing everything from sophisticated charm to moments of raw, unfiltered vulnerability. Since 2016, Holly Douglas & Company has distinguished ourselves as being one of the only boudoir photography studios in the Nashville area to proudly offer boudoir photoshoots for men. In fact, weβd love to discuss with you the beauty of male boudoir photography and why our husbands, boyfriends, and guy-friends deserve to have this experience, too!
What Exactly is Male Boudoir?
Earlier this year, the world felt the seismic vibrations of Calvin Klein's 2024 underwear campaign, featuring actor Jeremy Allen White. That popular campaign happened to be an excellent example of male boudoir, producing beautiful images similar to the ones seen in our own Male Boudoir Gallery.
However, just like our female boudoir sessions, male boudoir sessions are not just about taking βsexy photosβ of men. They are about affirmation, showcasing the profound connection between a man and his poise. Tailored for each client β straight or non-straight, single or partnered β a male boudoir session is a celebration of the masculine form and the unique personality of each man who steps in front of our lens.
Think of male boudoir photography as your personal rebellion against the norm and mundane. It's not just striking a pose in front of our camera; it's stepping onto a stage where your story becomes the spotlight. We believe in weaving narratives through intimate portraiture, capturing the essence of who you are in each still frame.
During a male boudoir session at Holly Douglas & Co., every man β regardless of his storyline β finds his rhythm in front of the camera. Whether you resonate with the spirit of adventure, the silent musings of introspection, or the unapologetic celebration of your masculine and/or feminine energies, your session is a pledge of authenticity. A promise that every click is not just capturing a moment, but documenting a personal evolution.
Empowering Men Through Boudoir
At Holly Douglas and Co., weβve seen firsthand that empowerment through boudoir photography is inevitable, and that applies to men as well as women. The issues of negative self-talk, poor body image, and low self-esteem are rarely discussed openly by men; however, we believe that offering male boudoir photoshoots helps bring this dialogue into the limelight.
In fact, male boudoir photography has the ability to dismantle barriers, empowering men to confront societal pressures head on, and allowing them the opportunity to see themselves in a whole new light. For example, during a recent male boudoir session at our East Nashville studio, our client, Z (yes, thatβs his top secret undercover spy name) mentioned as soon as he arrived, and many times during the photoshoot, that he was disappointed in his current βwinter body weight.β (Again, men can be just as hard on themselves about their physical appearance as women can be.) However, after Z saw the results of his photoshoot that day, he actually walked out of our studio with a much more self-confident posture and a promise that heβll be back for another boudoir session in the future.
Boudoir Poses for Men
The art of boudoir posing for men lies in understanding the most effective ways to convey each manβs unique story β be it through the audacity of a gaze, the narrative of a scar, or the silent strength of a silhouette. Our personalized consultations are designed to uncover the undertones of your individuality, ensuring your photoshoot echoes the true nature of your identity. Whether immortalizing strength, intimacy, or the multifaceted layers that define manhood, your session with Holly Douglas & Company promises authenticity.

Mr. Dβs Male Boudoir Testimonial
Suddenly Single
We at Holly Douglas & Co. believe that EVERYONE should experience a boudoir photoshoot at least once in their lifetime! We love empowering people and boosting their self-confidence through the art of boudoir photography! Of course, people expect to hear that from us, the boudoir photographers, because we do this for a living. A boudoir experience testimonial written by a past client who has actually had a boudoir session, on the other hand, is much more convincing! For this reason, Holly Douglas & Co. proudly features a new Boudoir Testimonial each week on our blog. We are especially happy to be able to share with you a male boudoir testimonial this week!
This week's boudoir experience testimonial comes from the handsome Mr. D., who was photographed at our luxury boudoir studio in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, for a male boudoir session!
How did you hear about Holly Douglas Boudoir?
Why did you choose Holly Douglas Boudoir for your male boudoir session?
Appearance of experience, and skill. Your gender.
What made you decided to take the leap of faith and do a male boudoir session?
Need. I am suddenly single after 15 years.
Were you nervous about the shoot beforehand? If so, what were you most nervous about?
No.
Did you become more comfortable after the session started? If so, what helped to relax your nerves?
No. It did not change for me.
What was your favorite part of the experience and why?
There were moments where I felt like I was in the 'right' place. I like attention, especially from women, I prefer the company of women, as I believe men are idiots. So, when Holly and Leslie were going through my photos and occasionally remarking, while Tabitha was giving me a massage, I felt good.
How did you feel during your session?
I didn't enjoy it, but it wasn't because of the process or who was shooting. It had way more to do with the honest fact that I have zero confidence. No one has complimented my appearance, or been attracted to me, or flirted with me for years...The worst time of my life were the years 2019-2022. The divorce news is 35 days old ... stages of grief are fresh.. I feel old, and unattractive. Not sure how the photos will make me feel.
Describe how you felt when you saw your images for the first time.
I was pleased, and some of them were simply exceptional photographs. I don't see what others might see, it is frustrating. I recall you capturing 'me'. So many of the photos made me think, 'That guy seems real.' It also seemed as though you and Leslie were 'affected' by the photos. Your reactions were profound.
How has your relationship with your body changed since your session?
No change. I want to touch another person, but that has been the case for multiple years, longer than I have ever gone in my life. Part of the divorce is sweet relief, and hope for intimacy.
What would you say to people who say they can't do a boudoir session because they are too shy, nervous, etc?
Well, I am not shy or nervous. I don't understand why you would not want to 'see' yourself. Even if you feel old, and unattractive.
Thank you for sharing this male boudoir experience testimonial, Mr. D.!
